Definitions for every metric and score used across MarketMoodIQ.

MarketMoodIQ combines several social-market metrics into the dashboards on this site. Click any term below for a deeper explainer — what it measures, how to read it, and where it commonly gets misread.

Acceleration Score range: −5 to +5 typical, unbounded in theory: The second derivative of narrative heat — the rate of change of momentum itself.
AltRank range: 1 (best) and up — a rank, not a 0–100 score: LunarCrush’s ranking of how an asset’s price performance and social activity compare with other tracked assets — lower number is stronger.
Attention-to-Price Divergence range: unbounded; expressed in percentage points, can be positive or negative: The gap between how much an asset’s social attention has changed and how much its price has changed over the same window.
Confidence Score (Stablecoin) range: 0–100: A 0–100 composite of peg stability, negative sentiment share, and depeg-related chatter for a stablecoin.
Creator Concentration range: 0.0 (evenly spread) to 1.0 (dominated by a handful of accounts): The share of an asset’s social engagement coming from its top contributors — higher means fewer voices are driving the conversation.
Depeg range: n/a — a risk event, tracked via peg-deviation (price) and depeg mentions (social): When a stablecoin trades meaningfully away from its $1.00 target; MarketMoodIQ tracks both the price gap and how much people are talking about it.
Engagement Per Mention range: 0 and up; no fixed ceiling: Total social engagement (likes, replies, reposts) divided by the number of posts mentioning the asset — a proxy for conversation depth vs. breadth.
Galaxy Score range: 0–100 (LunarCrush’s scale): LunarCrush’s proprietary 0–100 score blending an asset’s price/market performance with its social engagement and sentiment.
Heat Score range: 0–100: A narrative-level 0–100 composite of social volume, engagement, asset participation, and sentiment.
Momentum Score range: 0–100, with 50 as steady state: A narrative-level 0–100 measure of how quickly heat is building or fading.
Mood Score range: 0–100: A 0–100 composite of sentiment, social velocity, engagement quality, creator growth, and abnormality risk.
Peg Deviation range: 0.0 (perfect peg) to 1.0 (full collapse); usually < 0.005: How far a stablecoin’s price is from its $1.00 target, expressed as a fraction.
Sentiment range: −100 to +100: The average tonality of social posts mentioning an asset, scored from −100 (extremely bearish) to +100 (extremely bullish).
Sentiment Velocity range: −200 to +200, usually within ±50: How much an asset’s sentiment has changed versus its 7-day baseline.
Social Dominance range: 0–100 (percentage share, per LunarCrush): LunarCrush’s measure of an asset’s share of total social volume across everything it tracks — used on MarketMoodIQ mainly as a fallback input.
Social Velocity range: 0.0 to 10.0+, with 1.0 = normal: The ratio of an asset’s current social volume to its 7-day moving baseline.
Social Volume range: 0 to millions: The raw count of social posts mentioning an asset over a snapshot interval.
Volatility range: small decimal, no fixed ceiling — LunarCrush’s own scale: A LunarCrush-provided index of how much an asset’s price has been swinging, displayed on the asset page exactly as received.
