AltRank

LunarCrush’s ranking of how an asset’s price performance and social activity compare with other tracked assets — lower number is stronger.

Range
1 (best) and up — a rank, not a 0–100 score
Formula summary
computed by LunarCrush; MarketMoodIQ stores the rank unmodified and does not recompute it

AltRank is LunarCrush’s relative-performance ranking, not a MarketMoodIQ score. Per LunarCrush’s public methodology, it ranks an asset against the rest of the tracked market on a blend of price performance and social activity: the better an asset is doing relative to its peers, the lower (better) its AltRank number.

Where it comes from

We pull alt_rank straight off LunarCrush’s coin and time-series responses and write it to every asset snapshot unmodified. It’s included in the per-asset CSV export alongside Galaxy Score, but MarketMoodIQ does not currently surface it as its own dedicated card on the asset page.

How to read it

Read it as a position, not a percentage: 1 means "outperforming everything else in the ranked pool right now"; a rank in the thousands means the asset is lagging most of the market on this blended measure. Lower is always better.

Common misreadings

A rank is inherently relative to whatever pool LunarCrush is comparing against at that moment, so the same underlying performance can produce a different AltRank number on different days simply because the competition changed. Treat AltRank as a directional signal — is it improving or worsening over the past week — rather than as an absolute health check on a single day. For the underlying combined score behind the ranking, see Galaxy Score.
