Galaxy Score is not a MarketMoodIQ formula — it’s LunarCrush’s own headline metric, and we surface it as-is. Per LunarCrush’s public methodology, it combines technical/market factors (price performance, trading activity) with social factors (engagement, sentiment) into a single 0–100 reading meant to summarise an asset’s overall health at a glance.
Where it comes from
We pull galaxy_score directly off LunarCrush’s coin and time-series responses and write
it to every asset snapshot untouched — no re-weighting, no rescaling. It also ships in the per-asset
CSV export alongside AltRank.
How to read it
Because it blends price performance with social activity, a high Galaxy Score generally means an asset is both doing well in the market and generating healthy conversation. A low score can mean either side is weak — the number alone doesn’t tell you which.
Common misreadings
Don’t treat Galaxy Score as a substitute for Mood Score. Mood Score is a pure social-tonality read computed by MarketMoodIQ; Galaxy Score already has price performance baked in by LunarCrush. An asset can carry a middling Galaxy Score while its Mood Score is strongly positive if price is flat but the social conversation is upbeat — that’s not a contradiction, it’s the two metrics measuring different things. Use Galaxy Score for LunarCrush’s combined view and Mood Score when you specifically want the crowd’s tone.
