Engagement Per Mention divides an asset’s total social engagement (likes, replies, reposts, and similar interactions) by its number of distinct mentions over the same window. It’s a measure of how much each individual post is resonating, independent of how many posts there are.
How it’s built
The calculation is a straight division: engagement over mentions. If mentions are zero or missing, we return no value rather than a false zero, so a quiet asset doesn’t look artificially "deep." The same figure feeds into Mood Score and Heat Score under the name Engagement Quality — it’s one input, not a separate calculation.
How to read it
- High values — relatively few posts are generating outsized interaction. Often a sign of a concentrated, high-conviction conversation (or a single viral post).
- Low values — broad, shallow chatter: lots of posts, little interaction on any one of them.
Common misreadings
Neither end of the scale is inherently good or bad. High engagement per mention paired with low Social Volume can mean a small, engaged community — or it can mean one viral post is skewing the average. Always check the underlying volume and mention counts before treating a spike in this metric as a broad shift in interest.
